Periapical Abscess

DEFINITION
Periapical abscess is a collection of pus that has spread from a tooth to the surrounding tissues, usually derived from an infection.

CAUSE
Causes Abscess Periapical: The body fight infections by a large number of white blood cells; pus is a group of white blood cells and dead tissue.
Usually, pus from a tooth infection initially streamed to the gums, so the gums near the root of the tooth to swell.
Pus can be streamed to the skin, mouth, throat or skull, depending on the location of the affected tooth.


SYMPTOMS
Periapical abscess Symptoms: Tooth ache, pain when chewing also arise.
There may be fever accompanied by swollen lymph nodes in the neck.
If very heavy, swelling in the jaw area.

DIAGNOSIS
Periapical abscess diagnosis is made based on symptoms and physical examination.

TREATMENT

Abscess or cellulitis resolved by eliminating the infection and dispose of pus through oral surgery or root canal treatment. The most important action is to remove the diseased pulp and draining the pus.
